What happens if I cancel an order that does not have an invoice?

When you use Magento Admin to cancel an order that does not have an invoice, the Payments Platform handles the cancellation in different ways, depending on the following:

  • The Payment Action setting you select when configuring the extension
  • How the customer pays for the order

Payment Action - Authorize

When you select Authorize as the Payment Action, and use Magento Admin to cancel an order, the Payments Platform does the following:

  • Gift payment only - The Payments Platform voids the payment
  • Credit card payment only - The Payments Platform voids the payment
  • Credit card and gift payment - The Payments Platform voids the payment

Payment Action - Authorize and Capture

When you select Authorize and Capture as the Payment Action, and use Magento Admin to cancel an order, the Payments Platform does the following:

  • Gift payment only - The Payments Platform voids the payment
  • Credit card payment only - The Payments Platform refunds the payment
  • Credit card and gift payment - The Payments Platform refunds the payment
